Alcove Workstation®

Alcove Workstation® — IADA 2024 award

Alcove Workstation® received Gold Winner recognition at the International Architecture & Design Awards 2024 in Workplace and Office Design. Project status, design team and credits are listed alongside the presentation.

About the project

Alcove Workstation® is a laptop case that transforms your personal space into a private workstation, instantly.

Alcove Workstation® solves the biggest problems related to working in open spaces all in a compact, portable package. The user experience of the bi-folding side panels pop up when the laptop case is opened, creating a three-sided partition to help keep your data and information more secure.

Relevance

Covid-19 has fundamentally disrupted centralized offices, and technology has proven that teams can remain productive from anywhere. As organizations redesign their spaces to attract workers back into the office, Alcove Workstation's form factor will compliment new ways of designing workspaces including screens, panels, and other barriers to increase focus and productivity.

Function/Usability
Alcove Workstation addresses the following without compromising on design simplicity and customer utility:
Enhanced privacy regardless of work location

Improved video-conferencing

Increased visibility while computing

Impact
The rise in freelancing has shifted from the perception of low-cost/median quality service to top-tier talent serving critical roles from legal counsel, strategic consulting, to creative services. Freelancers today represent almost 50% of the US workforce alone and maintaining the privacy of sensitive client data and information on their devices will be paramount. Alcove Workstation’s patented side panels solve this critical need.
