Yi Cheng is an architect, academic, and researcher whose career combines architectural practice with extensive experience in education and research. Yi Cheng holds a Ph.D. and Master’s degree in Architectural Design and Theory from Tongji University and completed doctoral exchange studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the United States. Her academic experience also includes postdoctoral research at Tsinghua University and teaching architecture at Southwest Jiaotong University.
As Principal Architect of Yi Jian Architects, Yi Cheng leads architectural projects informed by both professional practice and academic research. She also serves as Director of the Planning and Post-Evaluation Committee of the Architectural Society of China, is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and has served as a jury member for international design awards. Yi Cheng is also the author of Contemporary Performance Architecture from a Multidimensional Perspective, published by China Architecture & Building Press.
Yi Cheng’s architectural work has received significant international recognition, including the German Design Award, World Architecture Festival WAFX recognition and a World Architecture Festival shortlist. Her work has also been recognised by the A+ Awards, A’ Design Award, International Property Awards and LOOP Design Awards.
