The film was conceived as a narrative translation of the design thinking that went into the project, revealing the layers of intention and rigor that would otherwise go unnoticed by the those unfamiliar with the world of architecture.

Cinematography plays a central role in the narrative. The film intentionally avoids starting at the front door and instead opens from the ski slope behind the house, which is the true entry point during the winter months. This choice reframes the concept of entry and reinforces the projects’ integration into its surrounding context.

Camera movement and framing are crafted in a way to position the architecture as the protagonist. Compositions focus on materials, light, and controlled movements to allow the viewer to absorb the experience.

Music and sound design were approached as structural tools as opposed to background elements. The Orchestral score provides dynamic range, capable of fading into the background to provide narrative clarity and rising to provide punctation to key architectural moments. The sound design was curated to provide a subconscious texture to the film, enhancing the immersion and atmosphere without overpowering the visual narrative.

Brodie Kerst Productions

Brodie Kerst Productions, based in Milwaukee WI and founded in 2019, was born from Brodie’s own background in architecture and design. Our films celebrate the world of architecture, design, and the built environment, transforming spaces into immersive, cinematic experiences.

Storytelling is central to every film. Allowing the architecture to speak not merely as a static structure, but as lived experiences. Through careful orchestration of narrative, music and cinematography, these buildings are brought to life.

Our approach bridges the world of design and film, translating the architectural vision into a visual narrative that resonated with both professionals, and those unfamiliar with the world of design.
