Healthy workplaces don’t need fruit baskets – they need structure.
For medienreaktor, a 480 sqm office was transformed into a clearly structured community-based workplace that supports concentration, collaboration and everyday exchange. Instead of maximizing desk density, the design prioritizes spatial clarity, differentiated settings and atmospheric quality, based on the premise that productivity emerges where orientation, choice and comfort interact.
The concept interprets the office as a condensed urban fabric. Rather than a linear open-plan layout, a network of distinct “districts” unfolds: spaces for focused work, collaboration and informal interaction coexist in close proximity. This deliberate adjacency reduces barriers, creates choice and enables a self-determined use of the work environment.
The arrival experience follows the logic of a favorite café. Instead of a conventional reception, employees and visitors enter through a café bar with an open kitchen – the social heart of the workplace. It anchors informal meetings, spontaneous conversations and shared routines, strengthening community and everyday resilience.
At the interface between internal work and external dialogue, a business zone with café and three differentiated meeting rooms creates a permeable threshold. Flexible and technically equipped, it supports both formal presentations and informal exchange. Complementing this, an event space with integrated tribune makes learning and collective thinking spatially visible.
Color operates as a navigation system. Neutral tones define calm work areas, while monochrome zones in the company’s CI colors create identity and orientation. Materially, the project follows a restrained and honest approach, combining durable surfaces with warm textures to balance precision and comfort.
Resource awareness shaped the design process. Existing furniture was reused, adapted or refinished, and acoustic elements were upgraded rather than replaced. This strategy links ecological responsibility with continuity and contributes to a familiar yet renewed spatial experience.
The project positions the workplace as a resilient social infrastructure. It demonstrates how interior architecture can foster mental balance, participation and belonging – not through spectacle, but through clarity, choice and community.

Goehring Innenarchitektur GmbH

GOIA – Goehring Interior Architecture creates spaces with lasting appeal and future value.
International in perspective and locally grounded, we transform hotels, workplaces, hospitality venues, residential and public spaces, particularly within existing buildings, into distinctive environments that retain their identity while evolving for the future.
Our work begins with rigorous analysis and genuine dialogue. We examine existing structures, workflows and potentials, translating them into viable spatial strategies. Brand, function and culture are thereby transformed into effective interior architecture, positioning design as a management tool.
Working in interdisciplinary teams, we develop clear visions and deliver concepts defined by high design quality and measurable economic impact. The result is spaces that engage people, foster long-term user loyalty and sustainably enhance the value of real estate, turning them into a strategic asset.
