“Garden out of time” is a two-level garden in the heart of Moscow. The garden goes far beyond the usual idea of an urban green zone. This is a multifunctional space for meeting generations, thought out for decades to come.
The concept of the project – “Garden out of time” – reflects the desire to create an environment that will be equally relevant and attractive today, tomorrow and in 20-30 years. It is comfortable for children, adolescents, adults and the elderly – everyone has a place: active games or contemplation, communication or solitude. The garden becomes the point of attraction of the whole area, where its inhabitants naturally meet, office workers from neighboring business centers, schoolchildren and guests of the quarter.

Designing a place, we focused on the main trend of recent years – we thought over a space that can unite. In a relatively compact area, a children’s area with developmental elements, quiet corners with a singing waterfall and fog for meditation, a garden of spicy herbs for sensory interaction with nature, open meeting areas and closed niches for privacy are harmoniously combined.

The central element of the garden was a two-level basement (stylobate pavilion) with a green roof and view terraces. Thanks to him, the useful landscaping area has been increased from 33 to 50 acres. For people with limited mobility, a ramp and an elevator are provided here. And in the very center, the main art object was located – a 10-meter rock with a waterfall, creating a feeling of presence in the wild northern nature.

The landscape imitates the Karelian relief. Hills, rock compositions and dense plantings form the characteristic of the author’s Scandinavian garden ®, and also effectively hide the noise of the metropolis for the residents of the complex. It’s an “island of wildlife” in the middle of high-rise buildings – a place to find harmony.

Particular attention is paid to the technologies of the future. An interactive column “Alice” from Yandex is installed in the garden: anyone can communicate with AI, control sound or receive information. In the evening, the space comes to life thanks to dynamic light installations.

All plants are selected taking into account resistance to the urban environment and the minimum need for care, supporting the idea of a “garden out of time” – living, but self-sufficient.

“Garden out of time” is a response to the challenges of a modern city: the growth of social loneliness, the lack of a high-quality social environment, the disunity of generations. Here we have created the living, breathing heart of a new neighbourhood where everyone feels part of something bigger.
