GUBIC Headquarters — An Interior Architecture of Growth, Responsibility, and Return
From Rice Field to Kulen Mountain
Growth is not designed as a form, but revealed as a journey, beginning in humility, shaped by discipline, and returning with purpose.
The GUBIC Headquarters is conceived as a journey where growth is not expressed, but experienced. In Phnom Penh, five adjacent shophouses are unified into a continuous interior, not by removing constraints, but by transforming them into order, rhythm, and clarity. What was fragmented becomes coherent, and what was limited becomes structured.
The project is grounded in a simple belief that true growth begins from origin and unfolds through discipline. In Khmer culture, the rice field represents life, humility, and beginning, while Kulen Mountain represents knowledge, responsibility, and return. Between them lies a path of becoming, shaped by patience, effort, and awareness.
This journey is translated into space. The ground floor reflects the rice field, open, calm, and welcoming, a place of connection and beginning. The second floor marks the foot of the mountain, where knowledge forms and direction emerges. The third floor represents the middle, where discipline and responsibility define daily work. The fourth floor reaches the summit, where creativity expands and Cambodia is expressed through four elemental landscapes, temple, mountain, river, and ocean, united as one identity. The fifth floor is the return, where leadership reflects with clarity and purpose.
Light moves gently through the depth, guiding space with quiet continuity. Materials are tactile, grounded, and enduring. Structure becomes rhythm, and rhythm becomes understanding. The architecture is not imposed, it is revealed through movement and experience.
Here, architecture is not an object, but a living system shaping how people think, work, and grow. Culture is embedded in order, proportion, and progression. Discipline becomes clarity, patience becomes space, and growth becomes continuous.
Guided by the GUBIC eight architectural design principles, soul, holistic thinking, cultural order, sustainability, functionality, aesthetic integrity, compliance, and innovation, every decision is shaped with clarity, intention, and long term responsibility.
The GUBIC Headquarters is not simply a workplace. It is a journey that begins with humility, rises through discipline, and returns with purpose, where growth is earned and every step forward remains connected to where it began.
