InGrained harmonises craftsmanship and modernity into a tactile language for a young family of three. Celebrating wood in innovative ways, the home blends carved mouldings, charred finishes, and fluted surfaces with expressive stone and curated art, creating spaces that narrate distinct stories while embodying a singular ethos: soulful modernity enriched by touch and materiality.
The journey begins at a charred wooden door, crafted in the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique, its textured grain contrasting with ribbed wall panels in muted terracotta, jade, and teal. A traditional Srinathji artwork and a curated console set a ceremonial tone for the entry.
At the heart of the home, the living, dining, and bar areas merge into a bright, expansive volume. Multi-marble grid flooring adds depth, while sculptural wooden totems with integrated lighting serve as luminous focal points. Fluted wood panelling wraps the perimeter, and bespoke furniture, from sweeping sofas to custom consoles, creates a grand yet intimate atmosphere. At either end, hand-carved consoles finished in ombré rust over ash wood provide discreet storage, framing artful vignettes of ceramics and botanicals.
Adjacent to this social core is the den, which offers a retreat-like ambiance. A carved wooden door with a tree motif leads to a moody enclave featuring monochrome art walls, sculptural lighting, and rich textures. The adjoining washroom, a marble-clad jewel box, includes a hand-carved vanity and a beaded mirror, balancing intimacy with drama.
The guest room lightens the palette with blue ribbed wall panels and vibrant textiles. Its ensuite bath echoes fluted detailing in stone. The daughter’s suite, with gentle pastels and playful art, is designed to evolve with her, showcasing bespoke shelving and woven textiles.
The study area features a curved wood desk, sculptural shelving, and a bold monochrome rug, softened by greenery and a reading nook. The master suite expands into a sanctuary with layered geometric wood panels and panoramic windows. Thoughtful details include leather loops and a luxurious bath with hand-carved marble and a bespoke double vanity.
The home culminates in a bar extending to a terrace, framed by a patterned stone backdrop. Outside, the sculptural Oneness Sofa by The Prana Homes offers a focal point beneath a leaf-motif ceiling. Flooded with natural light, this terrace serves as a sensory retreat for leisure and conversation.
From the charred threshold to the leaf-lit terrace, InGrained is a layered chronicle of wood, stone, and craft—a residence where tradition and modernity meet in seamless harmony.
