The “Karoto” night-light is a bespoke portable fixture crafted from marble waste, known locally as “Karoto,” which is typically discarded during the marble production process in Greece. The “Karoto,” which means “carrot” in English, derives from the sample piece often taken from marble blocks and eventually become waste material, cleverly repurposed to create a functional and elegant design.
The portable luminaire features a rechargeable LED strip and a motion sensor that automatically lights up when someone approaches and switches off after they leave. Equipped with a magnetic base, the light source can be easily detached for recharging or maintenance, while its handle makes it convenient to carry. The result is a light fixture that combines sustainability with the timeless allure of marble, making it an ideal addition to both residential and commercial spaces, while also adding a touch of eco-conscious design.
