The residence in Yongkang, Tainan, is home to a family of four, with each member’s wishes woven into its design. The mother, devoted to cooking, envisioned a fluid and spacious island kitchen; the children dreamed of displaying their model collections and creating a “moon wall”; while the father hoped for a living room expansive enough to host gatherings. Guided by the theme of the moon, the designer employed muted tones and curved lines as visual language, deconstructing and reconstructing functions with subtle precision. The island and dining table can be either combined or separated—light and effortless for daily life, yet grand and accommodating for social occasions. The curved television wall, finished with layered German coatings, extends like rock strata to create depth, serving as a steady anchor for the entire family.
On the third floor, the master bedroom is rendered in milky brown and dried-rose hues, evoking the softness of twilight and leaving a lingering sense of warmth. The fourth-floor secondary bedrooms respond to the children’s personalities: one with rock-like textures, the other inspired by the lunar surface, each becoming a chapter of its own story. The design avoids bold colors that compete for attention; instead, it reveals the rhythm of home through the flow of light and the breath of textures. Like the moon that draws loved ones back, the home gathers its residents day by day, uniting them within its layers of texture and light.
