The Palace of Peace and Reconciliation and the Hazrat Sultan Mosque are located nearby. The developer’s request is to create a park as a recreational area for urbaners, shaping the architectural character of the capital’s upcoming district. The assignment was unique in that we had to decide how to proceed with future development in addition to taking responsibility for the park’s environment.

The intricately designed fusion of Oasis Park’s various components reveals the location’s uniqueness and, along with it, the innovative experiments in developing the landscape idea. Its circular shape embraces many elements: alleys, water areas, traffic and business, cultural centers, sports facilities, and restaurants. Each site had to be considered, and landscaping had to be designed to integrate the various areas into a readable code for a Scandinavian garden. The location’s natural features — salty water and Astana’s severe climate — contributed to a professional challenge.

We have decided to create a unique microclimatic park based on four main principles: creating a comfortable climate, being inspired by bionics, accounting for the needs of different social groups, and supporting the country’s cultural development. Our approach to the design and construction of the park rests on innovative technology and traditional materials. To enhance visitors’ comfort and convenience, we planned the park’s layout with permeability and the mixing of various functional areas in mind.

So we designed not just a recreational location but the center of urban cultural life. The park has no strict obligations but is designed to become a lively and active space for everyone, giving everyone comfort and freedom, and well-thought-out landscaping creates a link between a person and the condition they are now seeking — be it inspiration, calmness, curiosity, or a necessary resource. A peaceful and futuristic space in the heart of the major residential cluster in the center of Astana. This is where the innovative and the traditional meet. This is about the Kazakh culture.
