PAT | Autonomous Delivery Robot — IADA 2026 award

PAT | Autonomous Delivery Robot received Platinum Winner recognition at the International Architecture & Design Awards 2026 in Futuristic & Innovative Concepts. Project status, design team and credits are listed alongside the presentation.

About the project

PAT is an autonomous delivery robot designed for the last mile: the final and most sensitive stage of delivery, from the logistics center to the customer. This phase deeply affects the customer experience and involves navigating dense, human-centered urban environments.

PAT was designed to integrate into that reality, to be present in the public space without taking it over.

NOT JUST A ROBOT. A NEIGHBOR.
PAT was designed not only to deliver, but to belong.
I wanted to create a robot that feels like part of the neighborhood: familiar, reliable, and always there. Inspired by everyday city figures like the postman,
PAT combines professionalism with a human touch.
He moves with the rhythm of the street.

FROM ONE-BY-ONE TO ALL-IN-ONE
Today, we already see many autonomous delivery robots operating in cities. Over time, we’ll see more and more small units, each carrying just a single package.
If every package needs its own robot, that creates a new kind of congestion. This project offers a different solution.
PAT carries around 20 packages in each trip, reducing the number of robots in public space and allowing for a smarter, more efficient delivery process.

LORING CONFIGURATIONS
Throughout the design process, I explored different configurations, gestures, and proportions, trying to understand how PAT should behave, appear, and integrate with the city. From early hand sketches to physical mockups and AI-generated forms, I examined how volume, direction, and access affect both function and character. The goal was to find a clear, confident form that balances urban presence with approachability:
a robot that belongs in the street, not just moves through it.

PAT was intentionally designed with a clean side view to allow easy branding by any delivery company, turning it into an urban canvas.
