We are often asked what the concept was, what idea guided us during the design process, how we arrived at the solution.
And we—well, we arrive on site, sit down, and observe the space around us. We watch what passers-by do, where they linger, what interests them. We observe the views, look for focal points, step to one side and then the other, note where the sun falls, where the shade is, where the wind most often comes from. We search for order, spatial hierarchy, logic of movement, habits, flexibility of use, and the possibility of future change. We observe colors, intensity, rhythm. We study the surrounding buildings—their appearance, height, and access directions. We ask random passers-by about their experience of the space: what bothers them, what is missing, what makes them happy. And when all of this is analyzed, the idea emerges through a creative process—it is not imposed imaginatively. After that, everything else is technique: a few spoonfuls of knowledge and a grain of experience. That is how it was here as well, in the city on the Sava.
The newly renovated pedestrian zone / promenade is a contemporary public space characterized by an elegant ground surface of clean, regular lines, modern urban furniture, and subtle, warm lighting. The design has a strong character, yet a neutral color palette, standing in complete contrast to the vibrancy of shop windows, façades, and numerous advertisements.
