“Rajadamnern Immersive Muay Thai” is Thailand’s first 360-degree immersive experience using projection mapping on the country’s largest permanent concrete dome. The project transforms Rajadamnern Stadium—the historic birthplace of Muay Thai—into a living storytelling environment where culture, history, and technology converge.
The brief was to elevate the traditional Muay Thai viewing experience into a world-class cultural entertainment format, while preserving its authenticity and deep-rooted heritage. The project aims to engage both local and international audiences, redefining the stadium as a cultural destination and positioning Muay Thai as a global symbol of Thai identity.
The narrative draws from the evolution of Thai art across eras to reflect the development of Muay Thai itself. It begins with the minimal bas-relief forms of the Dvaravati period, representing the early spiritual and defensive origins of combat. This evolves into the more intricate and expressive art styles of the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya periods, mirroring the refinement of techniques and discipline. In the Rattanakosin era, full-figure representations emerge, symbolizing the formalization of Muay Thai as a national martial art.
These historical layers are reinterpreted through contemporary media using large-scale projection, motion graphics, and spatial sound within a 360° immersive dome. The experience surrounds the audience, allowing them to feel as if they are moving through time within each era.
By seamlessly integrating art, culture, and advanced technology, the project transforms storytelling into a fully immersive experience. It not only redefines how audiences engage with Muay Thai, but also establishes a new model for presenting cultural heritage—bridging past and present, and amplifying Thai culture on the global stage.
