This interior design concept, called “Wharf Residence,” exemplifies Modern Mid-Century Fusion, combining architectural grandeur with an earthy, refined color palette. The double-height living space acts as the focal point, employing vertical volume to evoke a spacious yet warm residential feel.

Architectural Features & Materials
The design features a rhythmic pattern of vertical wood slats, serving as a striking wall at the entry and reappearing as a recessed detail in the custom cabinetry of the living room. This repetition creates a cohesive visual flow throughout the home. The flooring shifts from cool-toned large-format tiles to a warm timber platform that elevates the bookshelf area, forming a quiet, contemplative “stage.”

Living Area: Elegant Comfort
The living room showcases a curated mix of iconic pieces:

Seating: An expansive L-shaped leather sofa in deep tobacco offers plush comfort. It is complemented by the classic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman along with a leather butterfly chair, adding variety and paying homage to 20th-century design icons.

Millwork: A substantial, integrated bookshelf in rich walnut provides ample storage. Its minimalist design acts as a dark, elegant backdrop that balances the influx of natural light.

Art & Lighting: A large calligraphy scroll introduces cultural texture, while the glass coffee table maintains an open floor feel. Above, starburst chandeliers introduce sculptural, geometric elegance, breaking the vertical space.

Kitchen & Dining: Unified Flow
The open plan seamlessly links the dining and kitchen areas to foster social interaction:

Dining: An elliptical dining table in dark finish is surrounded by sleek, matte black chairs echoing the kitchen hardware. A vibrant Kandinsky-inspired abstract painting serves as a focal point, energizing the neutral palette.

Kitchen: The streamlined kitchen uses a monochromatic scheme, featuring black pendant lights and a matching dark waterfall island. This “dark core” sharply contrasts with the cream walls and mezzanine level above.

Lighting & Ambiance
Sheer, floor-to-ceiling curtains diffuse natural daylight, creating a soft, luminous atmosphere during the day. At night, layered lighting—recessed spots, track lights at the entry, and warm chandeliers—enhances the mood with a warm, inviting glow.
