“The traditional is obliged be modern” — this paradoxical manifesto became a continuation of the search on the sensual nature of Russian cultural identity.

The architecture of the stool “Ivan” is realized in the tectonics of a traditional log cabin. Black, like the time-darkened huts, the stool refers to the simplicity of pastoral life, where a bench was the universal functional basis of interior decoration.

The airy permeable silhouette and sculptural plasticity of the object are achieved through the specifics of the stool’s “construction” method. Like the walls of a wooden house, several dozens of identical wooden bars are woven into a monumental structure, embodied in modern industrial technology and laconic aesthetics.

The sacred mission of this object is to convey the meanings through its function. To give a tangible sense of belonging to the original tradition, projecting it into modern everyday life.

Osetskaya.Salov Architectural Bureau

Osetskaya.Salov is a modern architectural firm founded in 2013. The founders of the studio, architects Tatiana Osetskaya and Alexander Salov, have been working in creative tandem since 2007.

We work on a wide range of creative architectural tasks: from global urban solutions, unique residential and public buildings, to interior spaces and designer pieces of art.

Regardless of the scale of the task, we create a single coherent image of the object with individual, unique solutions, guided by the author’s vision.

We believe that architecture is a spiritual state, enabling an intangible philosophy to be expressed in material space.

We work with space and emotion to create vivid, memorable images. Any of our objects is a single organism, where the form and appearance of the building is inextricably linked to the appearance and architecture of the interior. As a whole, they create a natural, complete image.
