About the project

Tin Baron, located in Phuket, Thailand, represents a groundbreaking transformation of a historic Chino-Portuguese residence into a 541 sqm luxury dining haven, completed in 2024. Designed to cater exclusively to discerning global travelers, this project melds cultural heritage with contemporary luxury across four uniquely themed dining spaces, each boasting its own private courtyard. The primary objective was to create an ultimate dining destination that embodies exclusivity and privacy while preserving the building’s historical significance. Innovative design solutions were pivotal, such as the Cristal Lounge, which draws inspiration from the effervescence of champagne with its luxurious whiskey yellow and emerald green palette and sparkling crystal chandeliers. Bar Azul reflects a contemporary take on traditional Mexican architecture with blue and white patterned tiles and rich gold trimmings, while Montepulciano evokes the rustic charm of Tuscany with natural timber and raw materials. The integration of outdoor and indoor spaces enhances the overall guest experience, providing alfresco dining that complements the interior themes. Materials were meticulously selected to reflect the cultural narratives of each space while honoring the integrity of the original structure, employing a mix of local and imported elements that foster a sense of place and luxury. Sustainability was a cornerstone, focusing on preserving the existing structure to minimize environmental impact and ensuring that updates were sympathetic to its heritage and the local community. Overcoming challenges such as integrating modern facilities without compromising the historical architecture was achieved through innovative design solutions that carefully incorporated existing elements, such as converting original window frames into banquet seating. Tin Baron has not only preserved a significant piece of local heritage but also enhanced the economic vitality of the area by attracting high-profile guests, redefining luxury dining in Phuket and standing as a testament to the successful fusion of heritage conservation and modern design.
