Perianth Hotel is a neo-modernist boutique hotel in central Athens, Greece. It occupies a five-storey building from the 1930s and has only 38 rooms. The hotel was designed by the Greek firm K-Studio.

Near Agia Eirini square
The hotel stands by the Byzantine-era Agia Eirini square, in a lively neighbourhood of cafes, bars and restaurants. It is set back from the busiest tourist streets but within easy reach of the Acropolis and the National Archeological Museum.

A family-run building
The building belongs to a family who had owned it for several years before deciding to turn it into a hotel. It is run by the siblings Alexandra, Anastasia and Konstantinos Sgoumpopolous. Konstantinos is a Zen monk, and his Zen Center operates in the same building. None of the owners had run a hotel before.
With 38 rooms, the hotel stays small, which keeps it quiet and lets the staff give personal service.

The penthouse suite
The Perianth Penthouse Suite sits on the top floor. It covers 116 square metres and has two bedrooms, a living room, a dining area and a bar. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open onto a rooftop terrace with a pool and a Jacuzzi.

The suite is oriented towards the Acropolis and has 360-degree views that also take in Lycabetus hill. The view reaches the main bedroom too.

As a general point, a small hotel in an older city building can offer a calm base in a busy centre, with roof terraces making the most of the views.
