Fernanda Canales, a prominent architect from Mexico City, passionately combines design, urban planning, and research. She earned her PhD from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, complemented by an MA from Universidad Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona and a BA from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. Fernanda has received numerous accolades, most notably the Emerging Voices Award from The Architectural League of New York. She was spotlighted by DOMUS magazine as among the “100+ Best Architecture Firms” and hailed by The New York Times as a global female leader reshaping leadership landscapes. Fernanda is the creative mind behind acclaimed books like Shared Structures, Private Space and Architecture in Mexico 1900-2010. Her architectural brilliance has been showcased at esteemed venues, including the Royal Academy of Arts in London and the Venice Biennale. Fernanda is presently a Visiting Professor at Harvard University GSD and has previously held significant positions at institutions like Princeton, Yale, MIT, and the Architectural Association in London, among others. Her literary contributions span over 100 essays in leading magazines such as El Croquis and Domus. Her awards include the Research Graham Foundation Grant, the Best Young Architect Award in Mexico, and distinguished recognition from institutions like The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture. Fernanda’s work has been consistently celebrated, with nominations for prestigious awards like the Dorfsman Award by the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
