Fuwai Central China Cardiovascular Hospital is located in Zhengdong New District, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. It is a large-scale comprehensive medical and health center that integrates medical treatment, teaching, training, scientific research, management, prevention, and international exchange. The total area is about 250.8 acres, with 1000 designed beds and a planned total construction area of approximately 403800 square meters. The project was completed and put into use in 2017. Based on the terrain, the building adopts a symmetrical layout with one main body and two wings, and is divided into three main functional areas from west to east: medical auxiliary area, central functional area, and eastern functional area. The medical auxiliary area includes a clinical training base for general practitioners, expert apartments, and duty dormitories. The central functional area includes an outpatient medical technology building and a ward building. The southern part of the eastern functional area is the Central China Branch of the National Cardiovascular Disease Center. The exterior design of the building is simple, solemn, square, and appropriate. Through the strong sense of rhythm of horizontal components, sunny courtyards, glass structure corridors, large indoor courtyards, and gray spaces, a unified and complete architectural space environment is formed. Through the interweaving and infiltration of space, as well as the comparison and change of facade texture and materials, a strong era characteristic is created
The outpatient medical technology building, ward building, and various functional areas are connected as a whole through the medical street. The spacious indoor medical street runs through the entire outpatient medical technology building and ward building, establishing close connections between various departments. It not only facilitates patients to complete the corresponding medical processes such as testing, examination, treatment, payment, and medication collection, but also improves the service efficiency of the hospital. It greatly facilitates the communication and connection between medical staff from various departments. The lighting and ventilation in various functional areas such as outpatient and medical technology are good. The outpatient and medical technology buildings are equipped with inner courtyards, and the vast majority of the rooms can be naturally ventilated and lit, achieving a sense of nature, ecology, and people-oriented.
As a national tertiary public hospital jointly built by the National Health Commission and Henan Province, relying on Henan Provincial People’s Hospital and in accordance with modern hospital management system requirements, this hospital was one of the top ten livelihood projects in Henan Province that year. It is also a demonstration hospital for Henan Province to introduce national high-quality medical resources, integrate medical research, and achieve integrated development.
