This restaurant is the second establishment of “Takahashiya,” a historic eel restaurant with a 150-year legacy located in Sugito Town, Saitama Prefecture in Japan. Situated on the 4th floor of a tenant building within the same block as the Kabukiza Tower in Ginza 4-chome, it is designed to maximize the view of Ginza’s nightscape through large glass openings facing Showa Street. In Ginza, where first-rate restaurants cluster, the interior is designed with class to stand up to the existing renowned establishments. The walls feature a plaster finish resembling stone. Copper panels with a spotted sulfurized finish are used on select walls as a design accent. The floor, made of natural black granite, retains a rough-hewn texture that adds to the establishment’s refined ambiance. The ceiling is designed as a louvered ceiling, creating a sense of expansion in the vertical direction. By randomly placing modern spherical lights in a space conscious of “wa” (Japanese style), a playful touch is added. The restaurant also features spaces to display artworks owned by the establishment, including pieces by Rosanjin, creating an atmosphere that can be enjoyed as a “small art museum.”
