A clinic interior design project based on the concept of enriching the community with medical care. The clinic is located close to the seaport, in a town with a pleasant sea breeze.
The clinic’s name, URU, means “moisture.”We explored what the concept of “moisture” means. – Moisture for the body – Moisture for the mind – Moisture for the community Taking into consideration the region’s proximity to the ocean, we wanted to express elements essential to living things, such as water and light, through materials, colors, and space.
It took a long time to choose the material to use blue, as it was important to express the sea and water. Glass, stainless steel, stone, ceramic tile, fabric… Ultimately, we decided on wood, taking into consideration the hygiene and safety requirements of a clinic. We created over a dozen different wood dye samples and decided on the one that would work well with other materials, such as ceramic tile.
The door of the equipment storage space is likened to a picture frame.A lacquer work by Takumi Koizumi is displayed in the center as a way to add color to the space.
We hope that visitors to the clinic will not only receive medical treatment, but also experience peace of mind.
