International Architecture & Design Awards (IADA) 2027
Pavilions, pop-ups and temporary structures are where architects test new materials, construction systems and ideas. The International Architecture & Design Awards (IADA) recognise temporary and modular architecture in a dedicated nomination, evaluated by an independent international jury. This page covers that nomination and related ones, how projects are judged, the IADA 2027 fees and deadlines and recent winners.
Why enter the pavilions and temporary structures category of IADA?
A temporary structure may stand for a few weeks or months. An independent award keeps a permanent, published record of the project and gives the design team third-party recognition they can cite long after the structure has been dismantled.
Each IADA winner receives a published winner page with the project description, images, design team and credits. Certificates, winner logos and graphic materials are available in the participant account; a physical trophy can be ordered separately. IADA is organised by Architecture & Design Community (ADC) and has run since 2019; IADA 2027 lists 19 disciplines and 640 nominations in total.
Pavilion and temporary architecture nominations at IADA 2027
The main nomination is Pop-ups, Temporary & Modular Structures in the Architecture discipline. Prefabricated structures, installations and exhibition concepts have their own nominations; each additional nomination is paid separately.
| Nomination | Discipline | Typical projects |
|---|---|---|
| Pop-ups, Temporary & Modular Structures | Architecture | Pavilions, pop-ups, temporary and modular buildings |
| Mobile Homes & Prefabricated Structures | Architecture | Mobile, prefabricated and relocatable structures |
| Sculpture & Art Installation Design | Landscape | Outdoor installations and art in the landscape |
| Exhibitions, Events & Trade Shows | Conceptual | Exhibition stands and event concepts |
Exhibition stands and events are covered on our IADA event and exhibition design category page. Compare all options on the IADA categories and nominations page.
Built projects and concepts
IADA accepts both completed projects and unbuilt concepts, and the project status is shown on each winner page. Recent winners include Green Modular Home in Viet Nam by XMArchitect, a completed Platinum winner, and Modular Straw Bale Housing for Ukrainian Refugees by S SQUARE (S²), a Platinum winner presented as a concept. Students are judged by the same jury against the same criteria and receive a 50% discount on everything except trophies.

How pavilions and temporary structures are judged
Each member of the jury evaluates every project in its nomination against three criteria:
- Innovation & Originality: the idea, the construction system and what the structure tests or communicates.
- Design & Aesthetic Quality: form, materials, light and the experience of visitors.
- Functionality & Spatial Integration: assembly, reuse or relocation, and how the structure works for its programme.
The jury scores each entry against these published criteria and the scores are averaged. The highest-ranked projects receive Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze awards, and Honourable Mentions may also be given. Meet the jury on the IADA jury page.
