Grand Jury Member

Juan Pablo Cepeda is a celebrated architect hailing from Mexico City. He is the founder and driving force behind CPDA Arquitectos, an architectural studio deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Mexican architecture. This commitment is reflected in the studio’s ethos, which reverently studies the past while considering the evolutionary processes of architecture in historical contexts. Cepeda’s academic background is as impressive as his professional achievements. He acquired his degree in architecture and urbanism from Universidad Iberoamericana in 2007, furthering his knowledge with a stint at ETSAB, Barcelona in 2005 and a certificate in finance from his alma mater in 2007. Beyond his own education, he’s been a beacon of knowledge for others, teaching at Iberoamerican University between 2009 and 2011. His architectural prowess has been consistently recognized. Notably, he secured a gold medal for the LIVERPOOL 1 project at the inaugural Mexico City Architecture Biennial in 2013. The same project garnered a silver medal at the XIII Mexican Architecture Biennial in 2014 and an honorable mention in 2015 at the First Biennial of Young Mexican Architects. Prior to establishing CPDA Arquitectos in 2016, Cepeda co-founded Mocaa Arquitectos in 2011. Under his leadership, CPDA Arquitectos has amassed a string of accolades, including two medals from the Academy of Mexican Architecture, nominations for the RIBA International Prize 2017, commendations at the World Architecture Festival 2018, and victories in the Archmarathon Awards 2020 and the Noldi Schreck Awards 2020, among others.
