Elke’s passion for architecture began with her degree from Heidelberg in 2001. This foundation led her to earn an advanced Master of Architecture from SAC-Städelschule in Frankfurt. Under mentors like Prof. Ben Van Berkel and Prof. Mark Wigley, she evolved into a force within the architectural world. Elke’s time from 2006 to 2015 at Zaha Hadid Architects in London was particularly influential. Projects under her belt include the Riverside Museum in Glasgow, the Neil Barrett stores globally, and private residences in places like San Diego and Brussels. Outside of design, Elke is committed to education, teaching at Universität der Künste in Berlin since 2018, and earlier at the University of Greenwich from 2013 to 2015. Nicolas’s integrated approach to structural engineering and architecture was shaped by his studies at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Paris. He was a part of ARUP’s Advanced Geometry Unit between 2005 and 2009, delving into intricate design structures alongside renowned Cecil Balmond. His collaborative ventures with architects like Zaha Hadid and Ron Arad showcase a synthesis of design and engineering precision. At HDA Hugh Dutton Associates in Paris (1999-2005) and AKTII Adams Kara Taylor in London (up to 2017), his expertise shone through in facade design and iconic architectural constructs. He is also a sought-after speaker, inspiring the next generation of architects and engineers. In 2018, their combined expertise culminated in the foundation of STERLING PRESSER ARCHITECTS+ENGINEERS in Berlin. With over three decades of joint experience, their studio champions the creation of sustainable projects. Their collective vision has made their firm a beacon for those seeking the nexus of architectural genius and engineering marvel.
