Educated as an architect at the University of Coimbra, where he also served as a Senator and Member of the University Assembly, Tiago do Vale has extended his academic pursuit as a doctoral candidate and postgraduate in Advanced Studies in Architectural Heritage at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto. As an editor, he has contributed to the sphere of architectural literature by overseeing the publication of “Urban Complex” with Design Media Publishing, and supervising its Chinese counterpart with Liaoning Science and Technology Publishing House. With a portfolio recognized and disseminated internationally, Tiago do Vale has shared his insights on architecture, urbanism, and heritage restoration through lectures and numerous articles across various esteemed platforms. His architectural vision has not only been showcased in exhibitions in Portugal and internationally but has also been entrusted in the role of juror for distinguished design and architecture awards, such as the DAS Awards in Moldavia, the João de Almada Award on behalf of the Portuguese Architects Board, and the Architecture MasterPrize and Muse Design Awards in the United States, among others. Tiago has curated significant architectural dialogues, including the “Urban Dialogues, International Architecture Congress” and several editions of the “Mesturas, International Architecture Encounters Galicia-Portugal”, cementing his role as a prominent figure in fostering architectural discourse. A columnist for RUA Magazine and a regional adviser for the Asia Designer Communication Platform, his expertise has been formally acknowledged through multiple accolades including the American Architecture Prize, the COAG Architecture Awards, and the Professor Joaquim Veríssimo Serrão Award by the Portuguese History Academy. His work has been lauded and selected for the National Award for Wood Architecture, featured in the Building of the Year Awards, and earned distinctions in numerous national rehabilitation and construction awards.
