The most coveted beach-front property at the Four Season’s Costa Palmas in La Ribera Mexico, located directly on the Sea of Cortez, is home to a new state-of-the-art private residence — Casa Marea (which translates to “The Tide House”).

In this booming region which is attracting immense luxury real estate investment among the international ‘who’s who,’ this home rises above the rest. Casa Marea’s coastal contemporary design harnesses the power and beauty of the Sea of Cortez, prioritizes functionality and livability for a family’s three generations, and features unique design elements executed at a level of quality never before seen in Mexico.

Everything about Casa Marea seems to make the impossible, possible. For example, one would think that a fully amenitized home that sleeps 28 would dominate the surrounding landscape. Instead, Casa Marea is light, airy, and so geometrically driven that it seems to fold right into the surroundings it is intended to honor. This is due to the designer’s open-air ‘pod’ concept that delineate spaces and guides movement using courtyards and water features.

Upon entering Casa Marea, you’re immediately pulled to the sea through an entryway flanked by faceted stone walls that disappear into reflecting pools. Frameless motorized windows make entire walls invisible providing unobstructed views of the water — opening and closing on-demand for a seamless indoor/outdoor experience. Cantilevered roof-forms that defy the laws of physics soar outward offering protection while maximizing views from the first and second floors. A 300-foot-long pool, featuring multiple seating areas and sunken fireplace, mirrors the horizon line of the ocean and appears to flow directly into its waters.

The interior of the home is a testament to the powerful nexus between art and architecture, thanks to the work of a multi-disciplinary team sharing a common vision. Collaboration between the home’s designer — Curtis Vaughn of 159 Design, the interiors team including Mark Boone and Linda Niven, and lighting designers at LS Group resulted in interiors and lighting themes that enhance the home’s dynamic geometry. Spaces are also brought to life with colorful works by renowned Mexican artists like Ricardo Mazal and Orfeo, and custom furnishings throughout.

Key project features include:
– 12 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, and 5 guest suites with his/hers bathrooms and office
– Indoor/outdoor living on all levels
– State-of-the-art home theater with Atmos technology
– Floor-to-ceiling mechanized SkyFrame door system and corner operable doors to maximize views
– Indoor/outdoor exercise, yoga, and dedicated massage room
– Luxury wine storage for 600 bottles of wine
– Dedicated back-of-house corridor, chef’s kitchen, and staff quarters
– 3,200 square foot swimming pool with sunken fire pit and integral hot tub
– Outdoor courtyards surrounded by tide pools
