The project is located on a compact plot in a settlement in the Leningrad region with a typical half-timbered building. Instead of standard fences, green hedges were used to mark the borders with neighboring plots, which became not only an aesthetic solution, but also created a natural backdrop for the future landscape.
The height difference on the site became an important feature: the terrace at the house towered over the main part of the garden. We used this relief, emphasizing it with geoplastics and adding compositions of perennials. A gazebo was placed on one of the levels, creating visual accents and new angles. Thanks to this solution, it became possible to get into the lower part of the garden from different sides, which added depth and layering to the space.
Despite the compact size of the site, we were able to design several functional areas. The main accent of the landscape was a reservoir with cascading overflow, steam generation effect and dynamic fountains. This element not only added movement to the space, but also created a soothing acoustic background, turning the garden into a space for relaxation and meditation.
The project provides for a hearth area, an ornamental vegetable garden and a gazebo, harmoniously integrated into the architectural axis of the house. Orthogonal lines organize the space, separating the lawn and the woodlands, but thanks to the local vegetation — blueberries and lingonberries — the transitions seem natural and organic, creating a sense of naturalness.
Almost the entire site is landscaped with perennials and groundcover plants, which creates the effect of total immersion in nature. The lawn occupies only small areas, emphasizing the naturalness and organicity of the space. This solution not only visually brings the site closer to nature, but also makes it less demanding in care, while maintaining ease in maintaining a well-groomed, natural appearance.
