The Huaihe Campus of Xinyang Normal University is a high-level normal university built within the first county in Henan Province. The project is located in the Chengdong New Area of Xixian County, Xinyang City, Henan Province, with a enrollment scale of 10000 people and a total land area of 1056 acres. The first phase of the construction has a land area of 298.76 acres and a building area of 151000 square meters. It has been completed, and the second and third phases are under construction. The overall campus style has taken shape. The campus is planned and constructed with teaching buildings, libraries, sports venues, departmental and teacher office buildings, art museums, industry academia integration bases, Huaihe River Ecological and Economic Development Research Institute, Xibanxia Research Institute, outdoor sports fields, etc. We will now provide a specific overview of the project from the following aspects:
Planning concept: This project aims to create a garden school that integrates the development of campus, urban area, scenic area, community, and park. It applies the borrowing techniques from Chinese gardens to campus planning, creating multi-level courtyard spaces and creating a rich spatial experience. According to the traditional concept of “mountain and river positioning” axis, with the “administrative building” as the core, establish the “millennium axis” and “people’s axis”, and build a city form of “blue green interweaving, cool and beautiful, and water city integration”. According to the green landscape circle, multiple clusters are intensively and compactly developed, supporting pearls and jade, interweaving and echoing.
Planning layout: The project follows the design principle of “one ring, two axes, dual cores, and six islands”. The first ring refers to the campus transportation ring, connecting various functional areas; Two axes refer to the vertical and horizontal landscape axes, connecting important core spaces; The dual core consists of the library and the auditorium (Phase II), which together form the core of the central axis sequence space; Relying on the roads in the park and the artificial lake on campus, it is divided into small parts and arranged adjacent to six islands, achieving efficient development in a clustered manner.
