Marina Hotel is a boutique 40-room hotel with exceptional service. Located on the Red Sea city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the plot is bordered by the sea from one side and land from the other 3 sides. The client commissioned In Detail Design Center, an interior design studio renowned for creating luxury interiors, to create the interior and exterior design of this new concept. Work began by envisioning a seaside escape within the city. An artificial sandy beach was created that includes an infinity pool. The design built upon the exceptional views by laying the floors with blue Macauba marble and exotic stones throughout the interiors of the hotel, with 25cm marble skirting for implied luxury. The walls were lined with floor to ceiling tinted windows to leverage the panoramic scenery while protecting the building from over-heating and saving energy on air conditioning. To maintain a seamless feel, the 4.5-meter-high ceilings were flat with gold lined borders to match the golden accents in the interiors. The custom furniture included walnut center tables with mother of pearl inlays of swimming fish. In addition to its luxurious lacquered finish and golden accessories, the wide doors and hallways ensured that the whole building was wheelchair accessible. The staircases on both sides of the lobby demonstrate the seamless link between the exterior and interior environments of the building. The smart use of natural light source and borderless handrail gives the impression of effortless style and minimalist luxury. The same wall cladding used in the exterior of the building continued into the interior. The custom designed reception desk used a mix of 4 marbles and gold stainless steel accents. Elements of the sea were used in fabrics from renowned brands like Etamine’s Archipel fabric with colorful corals and hand drawn fish in the common area of the hotel. The hotel features various amenities like a spa, gym and room service. A panoramic elevator at the front of the building takes the guest to all common areas of the hotel, from the basement gym to the multi-purpose conference room on the ground floor to the first floor terrasse, all the way to the roof top on the fifth floor.
