The new multifunctional pit building (main building) and main grandstand of the Hungaroring Formula 1 circuit were inaugurated in June 2025 for the 40th anniversary Hungarian Grand Prix, however, at that time the main building was only partially completed and opened solely for the purposes of the race weekend, with its full completion and official handover scheduled for April 2026.With these new buildings, the Hungarian Grand Prix has become a defining chapter in the history of motorsport in Hungary. The new complex enables the Hungaroring to operate not only during race weekends but throughout the entire year as a multifunctional event venue. With new outdoor areas and event halls divisible by acoustic movable walls, the facility can host events for 300 to 1000 people, complemented by an 80-seat restaurant. This allows the venue to accommodate conferences, corporate functions and family events.Despite their different functions, all elements of the development share a coherent architectural, interior and graphic identity. The new main building and grandstand do not seek iconic form; instead, their concept reflects the tension between start and finish through coordinated horizontality, perspective and a sense of speed. The main building and main grandstand highlight the specific character of motorsport. Although the buildings differ in function, their structural and visual principles respond to one another and to their use. The architecture reflects technical and formal features of the sport, such as hierarchical prefabricated structures, streamlined envelopes, slender aerodynamic elements and multi-faceted body-like surfaces. The main grandstand functions perpendicular to the racetrack, while the main building runs parallel to it. This dynamic is reinforced by cantilevered terrace slabs on each level. Both buildings function as program and event venues along their entire length. With a length of more than 340 meters, the new main building is among the longest mixed-use buildings in Hungary. Upper levels are accessed via five staircases and ten elevators accommodating 13–17 people each. In accordance with international standards, the ground-floor pit lane includes 36 racing garages and six technical garages for the teams. On the first floor, spectators can follow the race from 472 hospitality seats. On the second floor, a bioclimatic pergola shading system ensures comfort for outdoor events. The main grandstand focuses on visitor experience. With a capacity of 10,300 seats, all covered, spectators are served by dedicated buffets and restrooms. The upper hospitality area and event terrace for 2,000 guests provides exclusive catering and panoramic views. The roof structure covers the entire seating area; its perforated underside incorporates sound-absorbing surfaces to improve acoustic comfort. On the second floor—offering the best view of the pit lane and starting grid—commentators sit in air-conditioned, sound-insulated booths behind ininclined glass walls.
