The decorative finishing of building interiors and exteriors has evolved into something of a fine art – in some cases, literally. Yet for most commercial structures, whether they’re offices, public buildings, schools or hotels, they rely on a wide range of off-the-shelf or bespoke products to provide the finishing touch.

Pendock, has been a key player in this discipline for more than 35 years and is well known for a range of decorative solutions and architectural casings, particularly its widely used Radius column casings and Linea building lining solutions.

Radius column casings

Designed to conceal interior and exterior structural steelwork, as well as concrete columns, Pendock Radius unites the company’s six individual column casing types, with each product available in a range of standard dimensions and shapes, as well as bespoke options.

Incorporating preformed plywood and glass reinforced gypsum (GRG) casings, which are for interior use only, Radius also includes products designed for both interior and exterior applications, which are manufactured from aluminium, stainless steel, and moulded glass reinforced plastic (GRP).

The preformed plywood range is available as circular or square profile casings, as well as extended circles, or rectangular shapes, which use matching or contrasting extension panels between the joints. Although available unfinished, for painting on site, most are supplied prefinished with high-pressure laminates (HPL), which provide increased durability and a very wide choice of finish options.

GRG casings are purely for interior use where smooth jointless surfaces or painted finishes are specified to integrate with a building’s interior design scheme. Although commonly specified as circles, as GRG casings are moulded, they can also be manufactured to specific shapes and dimensions to meet exact project requirements.

GRP casings are also produced from moulds, which enables them to be bespoke manufactured to meet individual project specifications, and can be specified for both interior and exterior applications. Their durability and weather resistance also makes them well suited for high-traffic areas, such as public buildings and retail.

The versatile metal column casing range is also designed for interior and exterior projects. Manufactured from aluminium or stainless steel, they are inherently weather resistant, highly durable and can be specified in a wide range of standard and bespoke shapes.

In addition to a wide palette of RAL polyester powder coated finishes (PPC), anodised, brushed, polished and textured options are also available, while stainless steel column casings can also be specified with patterned finishes, such as Rimex.

Linea building linings

The Linea building linings range comprises nine different architectural finishing products. In addition to wall linings, ceiling rafts, lift reveals and soffit linings, the range also encompasses bulkheads and fascias, as well as parapet capping, pilasters and perimeter casings. Rooflight linings and specialised atrium beam casings complete the line-up.

Each provides a practical and aesthetic solution for a specific application and as every Linea product is bespoke manufactured to the dimensions and specifications of each individual project, they give architects a considerable amount of design freedom to specify materials, finishes and forms.

Linea allows architects to specify several lining elements within a project from a single source, as opposed to these items being unlisted or ‘floating’ within various sections of a specification document. By using this approach, a high degree of consistency can be achieved across different aspects of a project, as the elements can be manufactured, supplied and installed, if required, from a single specialist manufacturer. This helps reduce risk, mitigate potential co-ordination issues on site and allows a uniform, high-quality finish to be achieved.
