Rerucha Studio recently completed this home for the founder’s brother and his wife, blending modern style with subtle Thai influences. Architect Jill Rerucha also crafted the landscape, creating a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors. Light-filled, open, and perfect for entertaining, the house features floating stairs, lake-facing terraces, and layered wood screens that merge contemporary finishes with cultural warmth.
A Contemporary Facade
The exterior combines glass, steel, and custom wood elements for a modern look. Slatted walnut screens filter light and offer privacy, referencing Thai architectural traditions, while greenery softens the facade.

Terraces with Lake Views
The upper terrace opens fully to lake views, extending the living space outdoors, while on the lower level, layered screens soften suburban views while maintaining transparency. The outdoor spaces are designed for seamless transitions between interior and exterior living.

Peaceful Garden and Reflecting Pool
A reflecting pool at the entry enhances the sense of calm and draws visitors toward the home. Bamboo groves and thoughtfully placed plantings reinforce the Thai-inspired connection to nature while complementing the modern landscaping of the Pacific Northwest.

Bright and Warm Interiors
Light floods the two-story entry, anchored by a floating wood-and-steel staircase. Tactile materials of walnut, oak, and textured wall finishes, combine with neutral furnishings to create spaces that feel warm yet minimal.

Sleek Kitchen with Dark Cabinets
The kitchen features charcoal quartz countertops paired with black marble backsplashes. Custom dark-stained cabinetry has a subtle pearlized sheen that reflects light throughout the space. The layout balances elegance and function, supporting both daily routines and entertaining.

Floating Staircase Filled with Light
A floating wood-and-steel staircase links the entry to the upper floor, acting as a visual centerpiece. Its open design allows daylight to penetrate deep into the home, while views of the reflecting pool below create a sense of movement and serenity.

Calm Bedrooms and Stylish Bathrooms
The primary suite is located on the upper level, oriented toward lake views and outdoor terraces. Guest rooms and flexible spaces on the lower level include a golf room, lounge, and home office, each designed with natural light and connections to the landscape in mind. Bathrooms feature minimalist finishes and natural textures that complement the home’s overall material palette.

This home captures the best of two worlds: the modern, light-filled aesthetic of the Pacific Northwest and the warmth, layered textures, and nature-focused elements of Thai design.
